The uncanny valley

If you’ve ever watched or read something that felt like it was created by AI, then you’ve experienced the “uncanny valley” phenomenon.

The term was first coined by Japanese roboticist Masahiro Mori in the 1970s.

According to Mori, robots are perceived positively as they become more human-like, but only up to a certain point.

The "uncanny valley" occurs because the almost-human features trigger a feeling that something is off, leading to a sense of strangeness.

The same is true with using AI to generate marketing content for your therapy practice.

People can usually tell. It feels weird and it doesn’t build trust.
