Avoid attack marketing
Attack marketing is what it sounds like–attacking someone else in your marketing.
While it may be an effective strategy for political campaign ads, it has no place in mental health.
In general, most people in mental health have the same goal: to help people get better. So we should be supporting each other, not attacking each other.
Examples of attack marketing statements:
Therapists who take insurance are lower quality than therapists who don’t.
Psychodynamic therapists are more effective than CBT therapists.
In-person therapy is better than virtual therapy.
Cooperation, not competition, grows therapy businesses. As the saying goes, a rising tide lifts all boats.
